NETC Announces Educators of the Year
Three members of Northeastern Technical College’s faculty and staff were recently named local winners of the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) Educator of the Year Awards.
Peggy Ingram, of Cheraw, was nominated for Staff Person of the Year for her dedication and commitment to the management of the college as a Senior Accountant. Lisa Johnson, of Mt. Croghan, was nominated for Teacher of the Year for her outstanding performance as a faculty member in the business and technologies division of the college. NETC Employees Earn USC Leadership Certificate
Lisa Johnson (left), of Chesterfield, and Cathy Pelfrey (right), of Cheraw, recently earned graduate certificates in higher education leadership from the University of South Carolina. The certificate is an academic credential approved by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education to advance the knowledge and competencies of professionals in the South Carolina Technical College System.
The certificate is a two-year (six-semester) program which requires participants to take classes in the areas of higher education including finance, educational assessment, college teaching, legal affairs and leadership. NETC Instructor Recognized as Distinguished Professor
Polly McLain has received the 2007 Distinguished Professor award for Northeastern Technical College.
McLain, of Patrick, is a computer technology instructor who has been with the college since 1994. She was nominated by faculty colleagues and the college administration for her teaching excellence and commitment to higher education.

Employees of Northeastern Technical College recently gathered for a memorial ceremony to honor Ralph Toler, of Cheraw, who recently passed away after 23 years as a teacher, mentor and friend at the college.
