Adjunct Faculty Credentials
Adjunct Faculty teaching opportunities at Northeastern Technical College are available for non-credit and credit courses. Each area requires different credentials.
To teach Non-Degree Courses (Developmental):
A Bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline is required for the following courses:
To teach Non-Credit/Continuing Education Courses:
Instructors in these areas must be high school graduates. Eligibility is based on demonstrated and verifiable competency in the teaching area, such as references regarding competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees, related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
To teach Credit Courses (general education, transfer, and non transfer courses) :
When determining acceptable qualifications of our faculty, Northeastern Technical College gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline.
Northeastern Technical College also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees, related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
For all cases, Northeastern Technical College is responsible for justifying and documenting the qualifications of its faculty.
Note: Public School Teacher Certification is not a requirement and does not substitute for the educational credentials indicated below.
To teach General Education classes:
A Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
To teach Associate Degree for Transfer to a baccalaureate degree:
Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
Note: The following areas also require Master’s degree: ACC 101/102 (Statewide Transfer)
Associate Degree Nursing (plus licensure); required by SC Board of Nursing
Early Childhood Development (required by Technical College System)
To teach ASSOCIATE DEGREE COURSES NOT FOR TRANSFER to the baccalaureate degree:
Bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline, or associate’s degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
