NETC to USC

The University of South Carolina–Columbia and the South Carolina Technical College System developed the USC Bridge Program to make it easier for Northeastern Technical College students to transfer to USC-Columbia to pursue a bachelor's degree.

If you participate in the Bridge Program, you begin your academic studies at NETC. Transfer consideration generally requires at least 30 semester hours of transferable work. While it is anticipated that you will spend two years at NETC, if you meet the USC freshman admission requirements before two years, you may be able transfer at the end of any semester, with appropriate grades.

Students who transfer before earning the associate degree may complete procedures for "reverse transfer" of courses back to NETC for the associate degree upon successful completion of coursework and hours at USC-Columbia.

Program Benefits

  • You will participate in a virtual orientation program that focuses on admissions, financial aid and student success programs.

  • You will participate in an on-campus program held on the USC–Columbia campus.

  • As a Bridge Program student, you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with admissions staff, financial aid staff, Student Success Program staff, university housing staff, and a mentor from you chosen academic area.

  • You will tour the USC-Columbia campus.

  • You will be matched with a transfer student mentor.

Eligibility

The program is intended for first-time college attendees who are recent high school graduates and who wish to graduate from the University of South Carolina–Columbia. Students will be identified in the following ways:

  • Students who were denied admission to USC-Columbia either for academic or space available reasons and who live in the service area as defined by the South Carolina Technical College System will be notified of the program option by USC-Columbia's Admissions Office.

  • The South Carolina Technical College System can notify future and/or newly graduated students about the availability of the program.

Once students are identified, student names and contact information will be sent to the USC-Columbia’s Admissions Office for system input and tracking.

Admission Requirements

All admission policies and procedures, including the admission and transfer standards of individual academic units of USC-Columbia, will be applied. Learn more!
