The program offers a foundation in criminal law, police administration, criminology, communications and writing skills. The program focuses on real-world application of criminological principles. Courses are taught by current and former law enforcement personnel, so students enrolled in the program will be able to gain valuable insight into the working world of law enforcement. Individuals currently employed in law enforcement and currently certified may be eligible for credit for criminal justice academy training by submitting official academy transcripts to the Admissions Office. The S.C. Criminal Justice Academy also accepts certain NETC courses.

NETC has bridge programs with The Citadel and Coker College that allows NETC students to earn a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
