Advanced Bookkeeping Certificate - CB Pathway

The courses in the Advanced Bookkeeping Certificate (ABC) program are designed to prepare students for employment as bookkeepers and for the certified bookkeeping exam, offered by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.  Students who successfully complete the ABC course of study will be awarded the NETC certificate and have the option of paying for the exam to achieve the Certified Bookkeeper credential.

The program is of a total of 24 hours of credit and can be completed in 3 semesters:

ACC 101 Accounting Principles I (or ACC 111 and 112)
ACC 102  Accounting Principles II
ACC 116 Practical Accounting Applications I
ACC 117 Practical Accounting Applications II
ACC 120 Federal Income Tax
ACC 150 Payroll Accounting
BUS 140 Business Mathematics
CPT 174  Microcomputer Spreadsheets  

All credits earned during the Advanced Bookkeeping Certificate program will apply toward the credit needed to earn an Associate Degree in Business.
 
Employment:
Bookkeepers typically find work in a variety of office environments from small organizations to large corporations and are generally responsible for maintaining the organizations financial records.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment opportunities for bookkeepers are expected to grow up to 8% through 2014*. Most job opportunities will come from replacement needs as the current lot of bookkeepers move to other occupations. Bookkeepers make between $18,500 and $43,500 annually.

Admission Requirements:
-Must be 18 years of age or older*
-Complete an admission application and submit to Admissions (Start online now)
-Provide high school transcripts (with proof of graduation or GED certificate)
-Provide transcripts of any other post-secondary or college level course work
-Pay application fee
-Take necessary placement tests
-Provide any additional information as determined by curriculum area
*Special consideration may be given to High school students under 18 (contact Admissions)
