Machine Tool Technology
Machine tool technology involves the setup and operation of all standard machine tools and the manufacture of precision components.

Associate in Applied Science in Machine Tool

Program Summary:
Machine tool technology involves the setup and operation of all standard machine tools and the manufacture of precision components. Individuals who work in this field use lathes, milling machines, surface grinders-both manual and computer driven-to produce precision parts.

The machining field is rapidly integrating computers into its operations, so machinists and tool programmers must know how to use a computer. Many industries are using Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) machines to program and direct the function of machines.

Students interested in machine tool technology should work toward an Associate in Applied Science in Machine Tool (AAS.MTT) degree. This degree is the pathway to a career as a machine tool operator, machinist (production and maintenance), tool and die maker, apprentice, job shop machinist, production machinist, tool room machinist, repair machinist, tool and diemaker, CNC programmer/operator, and setup person.

Program Length:
The Associate in Applied Science in Machine Tool program requires 83 semester credit hours of instruction. Full-time students can complete either program in four semesters, and evening students, depending on the course enrollment of the student, can complete their studies in five to six semesters.
