Students who are working toward an associate degree and demonstrate a financial need may be eligible for the NBG. Awards at Northeastern Technical College average between $200 and $600 per year. This is a campus-based program, so funds are limited. Priority is given to students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by NETC's deadlines.
Students must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA, meet the satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policy and complete a FAFSA each year, by NETC's priority deadline, to be considered for a NBG. Students cannot receive an award for more than eight terms. Students receiving assistance from WIA or TAA will not be eligible for need-based grants.
Students who receive a LIFE Scholarship go to college nearly for FREE!Tuition will be covered for a maximum of $2350 each semester for eligible students attending Northeastern Technical College. Also, eligible students will receive a $150 per semester book allowance. Students can receive a LIFE Scholarship for four terms at NETC. (Funds are dispersed for the fall and spring semesters only. LIFE is not awarded for the summer term.) Download a LIFE Scholarship Application.
Students must earn 30 semester hours (or 15 non-remedial semester hours if eligibility began during a spring semester) by the end of the academic year of enrollment and maintain a cumulative, collegiate GPA of 3.0 (excludes grades for remedial courses and for remedial courses earned prior to the spring semester if eligibility began during a spring term). Life Scholarship does not cover ENG 032, ENG 100, RDG 032, RDG 100, MAT 032, MAT 150, and ACC 100. A student may defer the LIFE Scholarship for up to one year because of remediation.
Note: A student receiving a LIFE Scholarship is not eligible for Lottery Tuition Assistance.
A student must sign a certification form each year (renewal applications are available in the Admissions Office). If you have questions about the LIFE Scholarship or its conditions, contact Danielle Pace at (843) 921-6932 or 1-800-921-7399, ext. 6932.
Lottery Tuition Assistance (LTA) helps students offset college tuition costs. For fall 2016, LTA recipients will receive $100 per semester hour or a maximum of $1200 per semester for full-time enrollment. Effective spring 2017, LTA recipients will receive $95 per semester hour or a maximum of $1140. LTA award amounts differ each year because the program is contingent upon annual approval and funding by the State of South Carolina. LTA funds are applied to tuition costs after awards from the Federal Pell Grant, FSEOG, S.C. Need-Based Grant, or National Guard CAP have been applied to a student's account.
After having attempted a minimum of 24 semester hours, a student must have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA prior to the fall semester of an academic year to qualify for the next school year (fall, spring and summer terms).
A student cannot receive Lottery Tuition Assistance for more than one certificate, diploma or degree earned within any five-year period unless the additional certificate, diploma, or degree constitutes progress in the same field of study.
Note: If you received a LIFE Scholarship or a tuition waiver, you are not eligible for LTA.
