Distance learning courses are credit
courses offered by NETC through its Distance Learning department.
All Distance learning courses are academically equivalent to
traditional classes taught on campus and since students are learning
in non-traditional modes, require a strong commitment by the
student.
There are three types of distance
learning courses. Each type offers a different mode of
instruction.
1. Video-based courses
These are taped lessons supported by instructor, textbooks and study
guides. These courses are offered on video tape which may be watched
in the comfort of home or at a scheduled time in the Success Center
on campus. While most of the course work will be done on the
student's own time, an orientation session with the instructor is
required on campus, as well as scheduled exams. Review sessions are
offered by the instructor throughout the semester; however,
attendance is optional.
2. Teleclasses (Pictured above)
Teleclasses employ
state-of-the-art technology that offers courses over an interactive
video conferencing system. These courses are "live" and offer
two-way audio and two-way video interactivity between the student
and the instructor, as well as between other students at the remote
site.
3. Online courses (web-based)
Web, or online classes, make
instruction available to students via the Internet. Instructors have
designed course information so that students can access it on-line
and communicate with the instructor via e-mail, independent of time
and place. Students may be required to visit campus for certain
classes; other classes may require testing on campus. NETC is a
member of CCTC (Consortium of College Testing Centers), which
provides free testing services for all South Carolina Technical
College Students.

NETC offers both day and evening distance education
classes, so please check the schedule for the latest in distance
learning technology.
