Online Classes - Computer Requirements
- Pentium 800MHz or faster processor or MAC equivalent
- 512MB of RAM minimum
- Microsoft Windows 2000/NT/ME/XP or later or Macintosh Operating System
- DVD drive
- USB port
- Audio Card
- Printer
- Word Processing Software
- 56K modem minimum, DSL, or cable modem (the faster, the better)
- Telephone line or other network service
- Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- Latest compatible browser version of Netscape 4.X or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher browser
- Online course software will not function properly with the embedded Internet Explorer or Netscape browser in the America Online software. If AOL is your Internet Provider, download, install and use a compatible browser only. Do NOT use the browsers embedded in the AOL software.
- Java and JavaScript must be enabled in the browser of choice.
If taking online courses through TECHONLINE, the following requirements apply:
- Word Processing Software: Microsoft Word preferred - other word processing files must be saved in Rich Text Format (RTF) or Text Format used in Desire 2Learn if taking TECHONLINE courses.
- Screen "Popup Stoppers" (if installed) must be deactivated prior to using Desire2Learn or taking online tests in Desire2Learn. These programs will interfere with student testing.
- Anti-Spyware screening must be in place. Spyware will cause problems with Desire2Learn popup windows.
If your computer system does not meet these standards, you might consider enrolling in on campus classes.
