James Oxendine has been teaching math classes at NETC since 2008, but he has been in education for more than 30 years. He enjoys showing his students how to apply rational skills to solving math problems. Besides a math instructor, Mr. Oxendine is also a golfer, a vegetable gardener and a church pianist.
Mr. Oxendine earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Master of Mathematics from the University of South Carolina. He has taken postgraduate courses at North Carolina A&T University, East Carolina University and North Carolina State University. His teaching background includes seven years as a public school teacher, three years as an adjunct faculty member at UNC-Pembroke and 26 years as a community college faculty member and administrator.
Students in Mr. Oxendine’s class will learn mathematical reasoning and apply it to practical situations. In his class, students will receive encouragement to focus on their strengths to do their best and accomplish their goals.
