Central High School

CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL is a comprehensive public high school in Chesterfield County School District. It houses students in grades 9-12 with a student population of approximately 600. As a High Schools That Work site, Central High stresses high academic standards based on 10 key practices, including high expectations for students, extra help, and out-of-classroom learning. Our accomplishments include being named a Palmetto's Finest Finalist for 2006 and 2007, being selected as a Palmetto Gold Showcase School from 2005-2007, and earning an Excellent improvement rating and a Good absolute rating on the 2006 school report card.

Curriculum offerings in college prep, honors, AP, dual credit, and Career and Technology Education (CATE) allow students to select units required for graduation. Students are urged to select the highest level of academic course work they can handle successfully and to select CATE courses related to career goals. With passage of the Education and Economic Development Act, Personal Pathways to Success allows students to make a smooth and successful transition from middle school to high school to post secondary education and then to the 21st century workforce. Students at New Heights Middle School work with parents, counselors, and teachers to begin developing an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) to include academic as well as career-related courses and goals.
