Blood donations urgently needed! NETC hosts blood drive October 11 to assist with critical need.

The American Red Cross is facing a critical need for blood donations due to the devastating effects Hurricane Florence had on the Carolinas and blood drive cancellations up and down the east coast. Donors of all blood types, especially those with type O, AB, B negative, and A negative are encouraged to make an appointment to give.

Northeastern Technical College's Student Government Association is hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday, October 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the college auditorium (located off Tec Road) at the Cheraw campus.

Eligible individuals are urged to schedule a blood or platelet donation today by visiting redcrossblood.org and using sponsor code "NETech," or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767). Donors can help even more people by inviting a family member, friend or co-worker to donate too.

Walk-in donations will be accepted, but individuals are encouraged to make an appointment and to complete a RapidPass online health history questionnaire online to help speed up the donation process. RapidPass can now be completed on mobile devices and through the Blood Donor App.

Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
