
Northeastern Technical College will celebrate 179 graduates at its upcoming commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The ceremony will be held at Cheraw High School, 649 Chesterfield Hwy, Cheraw, SC, and will feature a keynote address by U.S. Marshal Chrissie C. Latimore, who serves as the U.S. Marshal for the District of South Carolina and brings a distinguished career in law enforcement and public service that reflects the values of justice, integrity, and service.

About the Featured Speaker
Appointed by President Joseph Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2022, Chrissie Cofield Latimore serves as the U.S. Marshal (USM) for the District of South Carolina. In this role, she leads a workforce of over 200 professionals and 115 deputized court security officers, directing operations across four divisions that support the security and protection of United States Courts, criminal investigations, fugitive apprehension, execution of federal court orders, and other law enforcement activities throughout the district.
A former military policewoman in the United States Army Reserves, USM Latimore brings over 23 years of law enforcement experience to the podium. From 1999 to 2013, she served the Laurens, South Carolina, Police Department in a variety of leadership capacities, including Patrol Lieutenant, Administrative Captain, and Assistant Chief of Police. She also served as a Special Agent for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division from 2013 to 2014, before returning to the Laurens Police Department as Assistant Chief and ultimately being appointed Chief of Police in 2018.
USM Latimore earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Service from Lander University in 2011 and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Anderson University Command College in 2014. She holds additional certifications in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the South Florida Muma College and the Riley Institute of Diversity Leadership at Furman University, and has completed leadership development training through Carolina Command College sponsored by the FBI.
Beyond her duties in law enforcement, USM Latimore has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service, serving on numerous boards and civic organizations including the Board of Regents for Leadership of Laurens County, the United Way of Laurens County, the South Carolina Police Chiefs' Association, the International Association of Police Chiefs, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement, and the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives. Her dedication has been recognized with a range of community awards, culminating in the Key to the City of Laurens in 2022.
USM Latimore has also shared her expertise as an Adjunct Instructor at Lander University, the University of South Carolina at Union, and Piedmont Technical College in the Criminal Justice and Sociology Departments. A member of Impact Church in Clinton, South Carolina, she draws strength from her Christian faith and is supported by her husband Donald Latimore, their eight children, six grandchildren, and two grand-dogs.
