As Veteran's day approaches, Northeastern Technical College will be launching a veteran's appreciation effort by participating in the Greenlight a Vet campaign, and ramping up its efforts to provide essential information to veterans about the benefits available to go to college.
The effort is part of the Greenlight a Vet campaign, an initiative that Walmart began in 2015 as a grass-roots campaign to honor veterans, asking businesses, organizations, and families to change one light to green to honor veterans.
Northeastern's President, Dr. Kyle Wagner says it's important to show support to those who have served our country.
"Our college supports veterans on a daily basis, but the green light will allow us to display a visible symbol of our support and appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our veterans," said Wagner. "Northeastern has a number of programs that benefit Veterans directly, and we want them to know what WE can do to serve THEM."
Dr. Wagner added that the lights at entrances of the main buildings on each of the campuses will shine green for the remainder of the calendar year.
In addition to the Green Light a Vet campaign, the college will also dedicate November 14-18 as Veteran's week, and provide information to veterans about college benefits at each of the college's campuses in Cheraw, Bennettsville, Dillon, and Pageland.
Veterans are invited to stop by any of Northeastern Technical College campuses to pick up an information packet or speak to a representative. A Veteran's specialist will be available at the Cheraw campus, or by phone at 843-921-6990.
