Pageland NETC campus to transition into Industrial Training Center.

As the local need for a skilled industrial workforce grows each year, Northeastern Technical College (NETC) has begun a new initiative to meet those needs by transforming NETC's Pageland campus into a specialized industrial training center.

NETC opened the doors to the Pageland campus in 2003, offering both traditional college credit and continuing education courses to the community.  The campus has also been used over the years as a location for adult education classes in the area

"Since we opened the Pageland campus, we've seen an increased need for workforce development, as well as a growing interest in industrial training programs," said Sherrie Chapman, NETC's dean of continuing education.  "Individuals are looking for specialized training to find jobs, and local industries have approached us for help finding qualified employees.  Our goal is to meet the needs on both sides of the fence."

Some of the industrial programs that will be offered at the Pageland Industrial Training Center in the near future include: CNC, AutoCAD, and Blueprint Reading & Sketching.  The production technician program will also be offered at the Pageland campus once the transition is complete.

A special "speed interviewing" session to bring job seekers and employers together and help employers fill immediate job needs is also being planned for the beginning of the spring semester at the Pageland campus.

"The Industrial Training Center at Pageland will go a long way in helping provide new workers and upgrading the skills of current workers in the western end of Chesterfield County and the surrounding area.  We urge everyone to stay tuned for more to come in the Pageland Community," said Dr. Ron Bartley, president of NETC.

The hours of operation for the Pageland campus have been changed to Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. while going through the transition process.
