Your Winning Season is on the Way

In classrooms today, students are being taught differently. Education has evolved and there are new methods to solve old problems. This shift led Lisa McCollough to pursue higher education. Lisa graduated from Northeastern Technical College on May 18 with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.

With Degree in hand, Lisa is equipped with the tools to help her son and granddaughter with their school work. As she pushes to make life better for herself, it gets better for them too.

Lisa enjoys spending time with younger members of her family. She uses the summer, when they are out of school, as an opportunity to help them with their studies, cook for them, and play games. Family is important to her and she loves engaging with the younger generation.

Once while playing Bingo, her little cousin was not winning and said, "I'm a looser." Lisa quickly told him, "You are not a looser. It may not be your winning season now but it's on the way." Lisa avoids negative energy and tries to help others find the positive. She is intentional about finding the good in tough situations. This is a trait she hopes to pass on to the youth in her family.

In the near future, Lisa plans to pursue her BA in Criminology at Coker University. Professionally, Lisa hopes to someday work for the FBI.

The education Lisa received at NETC has prepared her to set and achieve higher academic goals. She attributes her success to the convenience of online classes and the accessibility of her Professors. They were always to push her and encourage her not to quit.
