NETC Students Seek Out Demos of New CNC Technologies

Photo of MTT students Students enrolled in MTT 252 (CNC setup and operations) recently took a field trip to the Haas Technical Education Center in Columbia to see the latest computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines used in manufacturing.

The students, along with instructor Ron Yancey, of Cheraw, toured the facility and observed live demonstrations of Haas’ CNC machinery.

“It’s very likely these students will use this type of equipment when they obtain jobs after graduating from NETC,” said Yancey.  “So while they’ll walk away from NETC with their degree in industrial technology, they’ll also walkway with practical knowledge on how and where these machines are
being used.”

Beginning this fall, NETC will also offer an advanced certificate to help students to specialize in tool and die making using CNC machinery.
