NETC Supports Training of Vesuvius Employees
Northeastern Technical College recently provided employee training assistance to Vesuvius, a global producer of specialty ceramic products, to support a 20,000 square foot plant expansion in Dillon.
Due to the company’s efforts to meet qualifying criteria for economic development incentives for new job creation in South Carolina, officials from Northeastern Technical College (NETC) and the Center for Applied Technology and Training (CATT) presented the company with a CATT training reimbursement check. Standing from left to right are: Sherrie Chapman, dean of continuing education at NETC, Dr. Jimmie Williamson, president of NETC, Douglas Brown, Director of Operations for Vesuvius' Fused Silica Division, and Gene Crawford, area director of CATT.
Vesuvius produces products mainly for the steel, foundry and glass industries. The company employs approximately 60 employees and has been in Dillon County since 1994. The company’s excellent track record of producing fused silica products (silica glass ground to a fine, sand like consistency for it's injection molding and slip casting processes used form specific industrial parts), afforded them the opportunity to expand its Dillon County facility.
The recent expansion led to 14 new jobs, for which NETC and CATT provided training reimbursement.
