NETC Celebrates Black History month
In honor of Black History Month, students, faculty and staff at Northeastern Technical College have made special arrangements to celebrate.
On February 28, the student services division will sponsor a program in observance of black history. The program begins at 10:00 am in the College Auditorium and will last approximately one hour. The program will feature speaker Reverend Jerry Corbett of the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church of Cheraw, the Cheraw High School Gospel Choir and Long Middle School Gospel Choir. The public is invited to attend.
Library staff and student workers have also prepared a collection of materials produced by, or featuring, black leaders in American society. The collection includes autobiographies, biographies, magazines, children books, videos, DVDs and compact discs commemorating James Brown, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, 50-Cent, P-Diddy, Fantasia, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, W.E.B Du Boise, Malcolm X and others.
For more information about black heritage materials in Northeastern Technical College’s library call 843-921-6953, or for more information abut the program, call Student Services at 843-921-6936.
