Courses for Professional Training or Personal Enrichment offered through the Division of Continuing Education

The division of continuing education at Northeastern Technical College is offering courses this fall designed for individuals who are seeking professional training or personal enrichment.  Courses are offered in Cheraw, Pageland, Bennettsville and Dillon.

These courses are offered as non-college credit courses, typically meet once a week and last for a shorter period of time than regular semester long classes.

Beginning in September, courses in computer operation and programming, medical and health care training, business skills development and a variety of personal enrichment courses will be offered at reasonable prices and convenient locations at each of NETC’s community campuses.

“We’re very excited about the courses we are offering this fall because there are pathways for everyone,” said Sherrie Chapman, dean of continuing education.  “Whether you would like to take a class to help you advance in the workplace, to start a new career, or if you just have some interest in a particular area of education, or particular hobby, we have more than 100 different pathways to help you pursue those interests.”

Among the new courses offered this fall are creative writing and computer courses for seniors 55 and over, art classes for adults and children, and a truck driver training class.

Internet-based courses are also being offered for individuals looking to pursue educational and training opportunities from the comfort of their own homes, or offices.  To take one of these classes you need a computer with access to the Internet, an e-mail address, and Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or newer version of a Macintosh operating system.

“The internet courses are great because they provide another pathway to professional development or personal enrichment for those who are equipped,” said Chapman.  “We’ve aligned with national partners to offer a variety of courses that are just as affordable, convenient, and rewarding as our traditional, in-class, courses.”

A list of Internet course offerings is available by contacting the division of continuing education or by visiting www.netc.edu and clicking on the “Continuing Education” link and then following the links to “On-Line Course” listings.  The list of in-class courses is also available by calling NETC or visiting the “Continuing Education” link on the college’s home page. Classes are listed by course offerings in Cheraw, Pageland, Bennettsville and Dillon.

Registration for classes must be complete by September 8, or 10 business days prior to the first day of class.  To register, you may visit the division of continuing education on NETC’s main campus in Cheraw from 8 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  You may also register for classes offered on the community campuses in Bennettsville, Pageland or Dillon by visiting those campuses during their normal hours of operation.
