Michael Luther (second from left), of Cheraw, recently received a second scholarship from Progress Energy to help with enrollment cost at Northeastern Technical College.  Mindy Taylor (second from right),  community relations manager for Progress Energy’s southern region, presented the check to Luther while Sheryll Marshall (far left), coordinator of financial assistance at NETC, and Dr. Jimmie Williamson, president of Northeastern Technical College (far right) was on hand to congratulate Luther on his success.

Luther is entering the second year of Progress Energy’s Power Careers Program, which is designed to recruit, train and hire new employees for plant related jobs in partnership with local technical colleges.  Upon completion of the two-year program, student workers have completed 1,680 hours of on-the-job training and top performers are offered full-time employment with Progress Energy.
