Seniors Visit NETC to Learn How the College can be their Pathway to the Future
 

More than 450 other Chesterfield County high school seniors and their chaperones, recently visited Northeastern Technical College to participate in Future Focus, a partnership program between the college and the Chesterfield County school district. 

The program was created to help high school students prepare for a college education.
While on campus, students learned about application procedures and deadlines, options for financial aid, and the variety of academic, career training, and transfer pathways available.  The transfer pathways are designed to help students transfer to four year universities from Northeastern Technical College.

Students also toured the campus and had the chance to hear from a panel of current NETC students who responded to questions about life as a college student.

This was the sixth year NETC hosted the Future Focus event.

Chesterfield High School seniors pause for a photo while touring Harris Hall at Northeastern Technical College.  The students visited classrooms, learned about several academic pathways and toured the college’s library during their visit.

 

(Above) McBee High School seniors pose for a photo while visiting one of the “Smart Classrooms’ at Northeastern Technical College.  The students were learning about the technology used when taking a “Distance Learning” course at the college.  This capability allows students to take courses offered at other community colleges and state universities in South Carolina without traveling to the location. Classrooms are linked via the Internet and students and teachers communicate using real-time audio and video feeds.

(Above) Cheraw High School seniors learn about the academic and career pathways available in Northeastern Technical College’s Business and Technologies Division.  The students are viewing computer generated video productions and computer programs produced by NETC students completing class projects in the Computer Technology program.
