Cheraw High School Students Visit NETC

Students from Cheraw High School recently visited Northeastern Technical College to participate in a morning of job shadowing as part of the Cheraw Rotary Club and the Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce Job Shadowing Day activities.

After a brief introduction to the college and its programs and services, students accompanied a faculty or staff member to learn about specific degree programs offered by the college.  Students also learned about the possible career pathways available with the respective degrees.

Students shadowed instructors and staff members in the electromechanical, machine tool, nursing, allied health and college transfer programs.

Students also learned about taking college classes while still in high school through the dual enrollment, dual credit and Technical Advanced Placement (TAP) programs.  These programs gives high school students the opportunity to take courses or earn college credit so they can get a head start on a college education, save money on college tuition and earn college credit for high school courses.

High school students interested in earning college credit during their junior or senior years should contact their academic advisors about dual enrollment or TAP.  NETC’s Technical Advanced Placement Handbook is available by visiting www.netc.edu , clicking on “Prospective Students” and then “Technical Advanced Placement Handbook”.
