NETC and Coker College Meet to Discuss Transfer Partnership
Representatives from Coker College and Northeastern Technical College (NETC) recently met on the campus of NETC Cheraw to discuss articulation agreements, which will simply the process of transferring from NETC to Coker.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to rejuvenate existing articulation agreements and establish new agreements between the colleges.
Articulation is the process by which one college will award credit for course work completed at another college. Students use articulation to ensure courses will not have to be repeated at the institution to which they are transferring. These agreements are especially beneficial to community college students wishing to transfer to a college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
“One of our goals at Northeastern Technical College is to create more transfer pathways for our students,” said Dr. Ron Bartley, president of NETC. “This type of agreement creates the opportunity for students who want it to take classes at NETC that will apply toward a bachelor’s degree from Coker College.”
Coker and NETC currently have agreements in the social work and criminal justice programs, but representatives discussed the potential for similar agreements in the education and business programs.
“These types of articulation agreements provide great opportunities for students from Northeastern Technical College to transfer to our college,” said Dr. Jim Dawson, president of Coker College. “Our continued discussions will help us to make sure these agreements are effective and to the greatest benefit of the students who pursue them”.
