Pathway to Certified Bookkeeper Credential Starts this Summer at NETC

Practical Accounting Applications (ACC 116) will be offered for the first time this summer term as part of the Advanced Bookkeeping Certificate (ABC) program.  The course will be offered on Tuesday nights from 6 to10 pm beginning on May 20 and is an opportunity to begin preparing for the Certified Bookkeeper certification exam credentialed by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.

Anyone who has completed Accounting Principles II (ACC 102) is eligible to enroll in ACC 116, which is the first course in a two-course series that prepares students to take the Certified Bookkeeper exam.  Practical Accounting Applications II (ACC 117) will be offered during the fall 2008 semester. 

“This is a great chance for any graduates from our accounting and business degree programs to earn an advanced certification that will enhance their employability,” said Sandra Barbour, vice president for instruction at Northeastern Technical College.  “It’s also an opportunity for any degree-holding business or accounting professionals to take two classes that will prepare them to sit for a professional certification exam.”

The Advanced Bookkeeping Certification program is a new certificate pathway offered by the college for new students as well.  The program requires 24 hours and can be completed in 3 semesters.  Students meeting prerequisites can enroll in ACC 116 this summer and take ACC 117 this fall semester to prepare for the Certified Bookkeeping exam.

Summer term starts on May 19 and the deadline for admission applications is May 6.  Financial aid is available but those interested should apply immediately.
