Image of Catalog Insert NETC Offers New Continuing Education Classes For Spring

Several new courses are being offered this spring by Northeastern Technical College’s division of continuing education.  Courses are designed to provide students with opportunities to pursue new career skills, advancement in the workplace or personal enrichment. 

Construction and Pipe Welding is a 256 hour training program that will prepare students for work in the construction welding industry.  After completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for the Pipe Welding Academy at Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence, SC.  Classes for the construction and pipe welding program will begin March 3. 

Gunsmithing will begin on March 3 and will meet once a week for 12 weeks.  This class is intended for anyone interested in how guns work, how guns are assembled, how guns are cleaned, or for anyone who owns a gun or has a gun in their home.  Cancelled weapon permit holders can also use this course for their continuing education requirements. 

A FASTTRAC New Venture class will be offered for citizens interested in starting their own businesses. The course will guide students through the business start up process from market testing to record accounting. The class begins on March 5 and will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Bonus instruction and tuition discounts are available if citizens sign up 14 days prior to the first day of class.

A Creativity and Problem Solving workshop will be offered on March 9 from 9:00 am to 12 noon.  The workshop is application focused and is for anyone who wishes to learn how to creatively use the practical tools of problem solving. 

A course on the History of the Christian Church will be available one night a week for six weeks beginning March 2.  Students will study the history of the Christian Church with a local pastor.

A course on Learning the Rules for the Social Security Disability Process will be offered on May 8 from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm. The course is designed for long term care administrators, social workers, counselors, family therapists and all interested healthcare professionals. Students will learn “how to” techniques that can be applied to every day situations when working with the Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income disability programs.

A new class in Power Plant Fundamentals will also be offered for the first time this Spring.  This online course is the introduction course to the Power Plant Technology Certificate program designed to prepare students for employment as an entry level power plant operator.  The Power Plant Fundamentals class will start online in May.
