NETC Graduation is May 30:  Senator Sheheen to Speak

Northeastern Technical College will hold its 2009 Commencement Exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Cheraw High School in Cheraw.  The public is invited to attend.

Senator Vincent Sheheen, who represents Chesterfield, Kershaw and Lancaster Counties (Legislative District 27) in the South Carolina Senate, will be the commencement speaker.  Sheheen, of Camden, has served in the Senate since 2004.  Prior to being elected to the senate, he served for three years in the South Carolina House of Representatives.  He recently announced his intent to run for Governor of South Carolina in 2010.

As a member of the Senate, he currently serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources, Fish, Game and Forestry, General, Judiciary, and Transportation Committees.

Sheheen graduated from Clemson University and earned a law degree from The University of South Carolina.  He has served as a law clerk for a U.S. District Court Judge, a prosecutor for the City of Camden and an adjunct instructor for The University of South Carolina School of Law, and is currently a partner in the Camden law firm of Savage, Royall and Sheheen, LLP.

“Senator Sheheen is a strong advocate for Northeastern Technical College in the General Assembly and helps advocate for the resources we need to support our students,” said Dr. Ron Bartley, who will preside over the graduation ceremony.  “We are honored to have him with us during graduation and we look forward to the positive message he will bring to our students.”
