Hospitality and Tourism Management Course Offered at NETC
A new course in hospitality and tourism management will be offered at Northeastern Technical College beginning this spring semester.
Hospitality 140 – The Hospitality Industry - is the first of six courses the business division of the college will be offering in the study of hospitality and tourism. The first course will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8:45 pm during the spring semester and is designed for anyone who has an interest in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The course may also be used as an elective for any current students enrolled in NETC business degree programs or as a general elective for current students in other degree programs.
“This is an especially relative course for any current students or citizens inspired by Becky Anderson to develop tourism and hospitality services in our local communities,” said Ron Bartley, president of Northeastern Technical College.
The college recently hosted a tourism seminar moderated by Anderson, the founding director of Handmade in America. Anderson is a nationally recognized innovator for her efforts to inspire economic development in rural communities by capitalizing on local attractions like local artisans, natural resources and regional heritage.
Hospitality 140 is a survey of the hospitality industry and will focus on the principles of operation in both the lodging and food service industries. Students will study best practices and the range of alternative business options available in the industry from local, national and international perspectives.
