Chesterfield County High School Students Visit NETC
More than 400 high school students from Chesterfield County recently visited Northeastern Technical College in Cheraw to learn about pursuing a college education. Students from Central, Chesterfield, Cheraw and McBee high schools were on campus.
The visit was part of Future Focus, a nine-year partnership program between the college and the county school district designed to help high school students prepare for a college education.
While on campus, students learned about taking college classes at Northeastern Technical College during high school through the dual enrollment and Technical Advanced Placement (TAP) programs. These programs provide high school juniors or seniors an opportunity to prepare for college by being in college. The courses they take can apply toward a college degree and, in some cases, toward high school graduation.
Students also took a tour of campus and had a chance to meet NETC students enrolled in specific academic departments and learn about the career opportunities relative to their chosen pathway. Information on application procedures and deadlines, options for financial aid, and the variety of academic, career training and transfer pathways available at Northeastern Technical College were also shared.

The machine is a primary piece of equipment used in a variety of environments in the global manufacturing market. For example, this same machine is used in the racing shops of the Stewart HAAS racing team, a contender for the 2009 NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship.
