NETC’s New Online Sewing Classes Open for Registration

Are you frustrated trying to learn to sew on your own because sewing and pattern drafting classes are hard to find these days? Don’t put down that needle and thread just yet because Northeastern Technical College is offering several new online courses this spring that can help.

Registration is now open for Online Basic Sewing/Tailoring and Pattern Making classes through NETC’s division of continuing education.

Eric W. Stiles Sr., proprietor of the EWS Tailoring & Fashion Design Academy in Evergreen Park, Ill., will teach the online classes beginning Feb. 1.

“These classes are being offered for people who want to learn to sew for the first time and for intermediate or advanced sewers who want to make or alter clothing for themselves and for others,” Stiles said. “These classes will also benefit people who wish to create their own line of clothing.”

Stiles is a master tailor and a designer with more than 35 years of experience. He was formerly supervisor and head tailor for Giorgio Armani, Polo Ralph Lauren, Brittany LTD, Robert Vance, Turner Bros., Whitehouse & Hardy and others.

“Our online Basic Sewing/Tailoring and Pattern Making classes will provide an interactive environment for students to engage in hands-on learning,” Stiles said.

No sewing experience is required for the basic sewing and pattern making classes; however, students will need a sewing machine. A complete list of materials will be provided on the first day of class on Feb. 1.

Because the courses are online and self-paced, they can fit anyone’s schedule.

To learn more about these classes or to obtain a complete list of offerings, contact the division of continuing education at (843) 921-6900 or 1-800-921-7399 and choose option 4. Course offerings are also available by clicking on Continuing Ed and then following the links to “OnLine Courses” or “OnCampus Courses” listings.

All continuing education courses are offered as non-college credit courses, typically meet once a week and last for a shorter period of time than regular semester long classes.

Registration for classes must be complete 10 business days prior to the first day of class.

To register, you may visit the division of continuing education on NETC’s main campus in Cheraw from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday or from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. You may also register for classes offered on the community campuses in Bennettsville, Pageland or Dillon by visiting those campuses during their normal hours of operation.

For more information or to request a registration form, call the division of continuing education at the numbers listed above. Registration forms are also available on the Continuing Ed. Some classes are limited in size and enrollment is on a first pay, first serve basis. Tuition payment is due at the time of registration.
