Let NETC Teach You How To Land
A Good Job With A Good Resume
Learn how to write a job-winning resume by attending a free public workshop on resume development May 10 at 2 p.m. at Northeastern Technical College’s Bennettsville Community Campus.
Open to people of all skill levels, this workshop is part of the College’s effort to provide citizens of Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon counties with greater access to computers and training activities to encourage skill development and proficiency in the use of available broadband services.
The S.C. Technical College System was awarded a $5.9 million BroadbandUSA grant by the U.S. Department of Commerce to provide greater broadband access to South Carolina residents, particularly in rural areas where access is often limited, by establishing and upgrading publicly accessible computer centers.
“We are excited to be able to administer this grant to the communities Northeastern Technical College serves,” Dr. Ron Bartley, college president, said. “This award will have a tremendous impact on education and training opportunities for all residents and especially for people who may not be able to afford a computer or Internet service at home. Now these people can also use our campuses as a point of access for job searching, resume building and learning technical skills.”
NETC has purchased new computer equipment and secured additional staff to support public access to computers and the Internet.
In addition to the resume development workshops, the College is also providing free public workshops on “Digital Literacy” that introduce participants to the general operation of a computer. The participants are then assisted in enrolling in a self-paced online computer course.
These training sessions are portable and can be provided individually by appointment or in a group setting. For more information about the Digital Literacy sessions, call the College library at (843) 921-6954. The BroadbandUSA grant funding continues until January 2013. |
