NETC Puts Out Call to Prospective African-American Male Students
African-American males are encouraged to answer a "TRUMPET" call June 14 at Northeastern Technical College.
TRUMPET, which stands for "Training, Retaining and Uplifting Males to Produce Educational Triumphs," is a federally funded effort targeting the education of African-American males.
NETC will hold a program at 5 p.m. on June 14 at the main campus in Cheraw to encourage and inform African-American males who have been thinking about a career in education or nursing and healthcare. The program will be held in the auditorium.
J.R. Green, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction in the Chesterfield County School District, will share information about careers in education. NETC alumnus Tommy Pegues will share his experience completing the Associate Degree of Nursing program and his pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Nursing Department Chair Terry Wright will also provide information about NETC's nursing program.
The College will also hold a mandatory Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program Information session for prospective students on June 14 and Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. in Room 212 on the main campus in Cheraw. Anyone who is considering applying for the 2012 LPN class must first attend an information session to learn about the competitive admissions process for enrollment in the program.
