Construction Begins on NETC’s Dillon
Campus Expansion
Project

Northeastern Technical College recently celebrated the expansion of its Dillon campus that will allow the college to offer more educational and training opportunities in Dillon County.

“By expanding the Dillon campus we are growing our capabilities to serve the needs of the community,” Dr. Ron Bartley, NETC president, said. “We have utilized our distance learning classrooms in Dillon, but now we can offer more independent classes with instructors on site at the Dillon campus.”

The 5,000-square-foot facility will house three classrooms in addition to an administrative office and lobby.

One of the classroom settings will be divided into two rooms by a partition that can be removed to create one large room that can accommodate 200 people. Bartley extended an invitation to the community to use this facility for large group meetings.

Sen. Kent Williams was among the local dignitaries who came to the groundbreaking ceremony held last Friday morning.
“This is what happens when people come together and form partnerships,” Williams said. “Northeastern Technical College and Dillon County community leaders should be commended for this expansion during these tough economic times.”

Williams said by expanding the campus the college is stimulating the economy through job skill training and education.

Construction of the campus addition is expected to be completed by late spring, early summer, Bartley said, with classes beginning for the fall 2011 term.

Plans for the Dillon campus expansion began in March 2008. The project is being funded by federal funds through the U.S. Department of Commerce and state appropriated funds through the Allied Health Initiative.

The Dillon campus was constructed in 2003 and opened for classes at the start of the 2004 spring semester.
