NETC Holds Information Session About USDA Grant
Northeastern Technical College recently invited community leaders and operators of rural water and wastewater facilities to an information session provided by the South Carolina Environmental Training Center (SCETC) and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP).
The SCETC and the SCMEP were awarded a USDA Rural Development Technical Assistance and Training grant to support small community water and wastewater systems.
According to Elizabeth Williams, director of the SCETC, the purpose of the grant is two-fold: to provide training and technical assistance to water and wastewater systems in small, rural communities in South Carolina.
“We will be holding a series of meetings across the state to inform these operators and their local government officials about the opportunities of the grant, but we will also be taking this opportunity to educate them about the importance of water and wastewater infrastructure to their communities and their economic development efforts,” Williams said.
The information session held at NETC drew government officials and water facility operators from communities throughout the College’s three-county service area.
