Student Life at NETC Revs Up with Fall Semester

Northeastern Technical College students, faculty and staff took part in Fall Fling on September 14 to kick the fall semester into high gear. The campus has been abuzz since classes started on August 15, but the NETC’s annual Fall Fling for students provides a break from classes and time to socialize over food and games.

Former Braves and Rams rekindled their high school rivalry on the field in front of the College in a flag football game with faculty members and Student Government Association (SGA) members calling the game from the sidelines.

Other activities made available on campus for Fall Fling were skeeball, ping pong, volleyball, horseshoes and the arcade game Ms. Pac-Man. Because Fall Fling was held during Constitution Week, the library also invited students to drop in to take advantage of special resources made available about the U.S. Constitution.

Fall Fling activities were also held in the evening for students taking night classes. NETC’s growing student body at the Bennettsville Community Campus also took part in that facility’s first Fall Fling event.

At the beginning of the semester, Student Support Services welcomed students back to campus with a meet and greet in the Success Center, which allowed students to mingle with other students as well as a chance to meet College faculty and staff and learn about available services. Student Support Services organizes activities all year long and concludes the summer session with an annual College Field Trip. This year, the group traveled to Coker College and Coastal Carolina University for campus tours.

Upcoming activities on NETC’s campus in Cheraw includes Future Focus, which brings hundreds of high school seniors to campus to learn about educational opportunities and program offerings at the College.

As the holiday season nears, SGA members will be planning several social events and fundraisers. This month, SGA members will host a Halloween party that will include a raffle ticket drawing and costume contest.

SGA is a student-driven organization that works to build positive relationships among fellow classmates, as well as college faculty and staff, through events and activities. SGA is open to all registered students of NETC.

An application may also be filled out and submitted online by going to the Admissions page and clicking on Apply Online. Admissions applications may be picked up and submitted at the main campus in Cheraw, or at one of the college campuses in Bennettsville, Pageland or Dillon. Students who wish to submit applications in person should do so at the campus where they intend to take classes. The Application Deadline for the spring semester is Friday, December 9.
