Single Parent/Homemaker Program (SPH) |
The Single-Parent/Homemaker
Program can provide the training and confidence you need to begin a new career,
or pick up where you left off! To qualify, you must be a single-parent or a
homemaker,
A single parent is defined as
someone who is (a) unmarried or legally separated from a spouse, and (b) has a
minor child or children for which the parent has either custody or joint
custody.
A homemaker is defined as a
person who is (a) an adult, and (b) who has worked as an adult primarily without
remuneration (payment) to care for the home and family, and for that reason has
minimal job skills. |

| Nontraditional Education and Training (NET) Program |
The Nontraditional Education and
Training (N.E.T.) Program is a financial assistance program for men and women
who want to prepare for a nontraditional career at NETC. It assists with the
cost of tuition, books, and even child care and transportation for qualified
students. Financial eligibility may apply.
At NETC, you can work toward a
certificate, diploma or degree depending on your specific needs. Certificates
may be completed in just a short period of time.
Women in "non-traditional"
careers are working in jobs which are usually held by men. For example, a woman
working as a mechanic, electrician, drafter or technician would be considered
"non-traditional." Men in "non-traditional" careers are working in jobs which
are usually held by women. For example, a man working as a nurse, receptionist,
accounting clerk or office manager would be considered "non-traditional." |

|
| Both the Nontraditional Education
and Training program and the Single-Parent/Homemaker program involve two
separate phases. The first phase is a one-week orientation and exploration
phase with classes meeting three hours per day, followed by the second phase in
which participants enroll in one of the specific program areas. |
