Transfer Courses
The
South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) statewide Articulation Agreement includes 86 courses offered by the technical
colleges of South Carolina which will transfer to public senior colleges
in the State. The CHE Transfer/Articulation Agreement has two sections, COURSES FOR TRANSFER and TRANSFER BLOCKS.
A listing of the transfer courses in available at the CHE web page or a copy is available by contacting the NETC admissions offices. You can also view a list of courses below, as well as the list of colleges that accept, or have accepted, courses taken at Northeastern Technical College.
COURSES FOR TRANSFER
Transfer students are encouraged
to earn the associate degree at NETC prior to their transfer or to enroll
jointly, if the senior institution is nearby, or to "transfer back" courses
which will complete the associate degree requirements. NOTE: Transfer courses
are accepted, based on the student's major and the policy of the senior college
regarding maximum number of transfer credits. A grade of "C" or better is
usually required for transferring courses. Generally, courses at the 100 or 200
level of the course numbering system will not substitute of transfer for 300 or
400 level courses. NETC is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools to award associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. This is an
important consideration for transferring courses.
TRANSFER BLOCKS
"Transfer blocks" refer to blocks of courses for
specific majors which are guaranteed to transfer to all public senior
institutions in South Carolina. These courses have been identified by consensus
of all state institutions. The selection of a transfer block is designed to help
the student who has chosen a major but is still undecided about the institution
to attend. Transfer blocks represent only a portion of the possible courses a
student may complete for transfer. NETC advisors can assist students with these
additional courses. Transfer blocks have been designed for the following areas:
*Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences General Education *General Education and
Business Foundations *Engineering *Science and Math *Early Childhood, Elementary
and Special Education *Nursing Students who follow a transfer block can work
through the advisor to determine additional courses for the institution of their
choice, once that decision is made. The transfer block should not limit any
student's selection of courses at NETC.
ARTICULATION AT THE COLLEGE
NETC has also signed articulation agreements with
senior public and private colleges to facilitate transfer of students to
specific majors and, often, to include more courses than the Statewide 74
courses. Specific information regarding these agreements listed below are
