
Northeastern Technical College (NETC) proudly presented on the topic, "Removing Barriers to Correctional Education: Empowering Inmates Through Technical Education," as part of the Office of Correctional Education Professional Learning Series. This series was hosted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education.
NETC President Dr. Kyle Wagner, Dean of Students Danielle Pace, and Evans Correctional Institution Program Reentry Specialist Natasha Sprattling led the presentation. They highlighted NETC's impactful programs at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, SC, and the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Bennettsville.
Key topics covered included the benefits of technical education for incarcerated individuals, NETC's innovative Stackable Credential Model, program successes and challenges, and future opportunities for expanding correctional education both locally and nationwide.
The presentation emphasized how technical education equips inmates with valuable skills, increases employment opportunities upon release, and contributes to reduced recidivism rates. NETC's Stackable Credential Model allows participants to earn industry-recognized credentials that build toward higher qualifications, fostering a pathway to long-term success.
