Nursing students awarded William Tolar III scholarships

Two Northeastern Technical College (NETC) nursing students were recently selected to receive the William Carson Tolar III Nursing Scholarship, named after the late William "Bill" Carson Tolar III of Bennettsville. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding nursing students enrolled at NETC.
Tina Sherrell Wright of Little Rock, SC and Allisa Y'vette Covington of McColl are the recipients of this year's scholarship. Both students are currently enrolled in the Associates in Nursing program at NETC and expect to graduate in 2015.
Wright is a 2004 graduate of Dillon High School and also a 2011 graduate of Florence Darlington Technical College with an AAS in Radiologic Technology. Her professional goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Covington is a 2009 graduate of Marlboro County High School, and also graduated from NETC in 2013 with her AS degree. She plans to become a registered nurse once she completes her education.
The William Carson Tolar III Nursing Scholarship was established in 2001 by Tolar's wife Jane, a retired public health nurse. According to Jane Tolar, the scholarship was established to memorialize her late husband and also help caregivers further their careers in the nursing profession.
Nursing students who are interested in applying for the William Carson Tolar III nursing scholarship should contact Sheryll Marshall in the Financial Aid Department at NETC. Individuals interested in donating to the scholarship fund can also contact Marshall at (843) 921-6939.
