Return of Title IV Funds - (Complete Withdrawal From School)

Policy on Withdrawals and Return of Funds

If a student withdraws or is dropped from all of his or her classes before completing 60 percent of the semester, the college is required to prorate the following awards based on the student's last day of attendance in classes: Federal Pell Grant (PELL) and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). NETC does not participate in the Stafford Loan Program.

The student is required to return to NETC the portion of the financial aid that was not earned. No further aid will be disbursed to the student and their academic records are frozen until the full amount has been repaid. Payments should be made to the Cashier's Office.

Formula for determining Amount of Title IV Aid Earned by the Student:

Number of days student completed in term / Total number of days in term X Aid that could have been disbursed = Amount of aid earned
(Number of days student completed in term DIVIDED BY Total number of days in term TIMES Aid that could have been disbursed EQUALS Amount of aid earned)

If the student drops after completing 60 percent of the term, he or she is considered to have earned 100 percent of the financial aid paid for the semester.
Note: A student's last day of attendance must fall on or after the 60 percent point of the semester.

More Information

Students considering total withdrawal from classes should come by the Office of Student Financial Assistance to find out how their aid will be affected and whether they will be liable for any charges.
